Are you an exceptional financial business partner who would like to find out how to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people across Wales?  Do you have a talent for finance systems and providing assurance? Are you looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of people across Wales?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wales & West Housing, a values-driven organisation with a strong social purpose. We are looking for a Finance Manager (Development) who combines commercial insight, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to support our directors to drive the continued growth of our ambitious development programme.

What will you be doing?

You will play a key role in driving financial excellence across our development programme, acting as a catalyst for change and delivering real, measurable benefits across the Wales & West Housing Group.

Working closely with the Development team, you will provide expert financial insight into scheme viability, appraisals and performance, helping to shape decisions that have a lasting impact on our residents and communities across Wales, ensuring the development programme is robust. This is an exciting role where you will add value by offering financial leadership to inform and shape the future development programme and the organisation’s vision, driving the business forward by ensuring that decision-making is aligned with our strategic objectives and core values.

Alongside leading on financial reporting and forecasting, you will ensure strong financial controls and oversight are in place, identifying risks and improving processes to support smarter ways of working. You will build strong relationships across the organisation, raise financial awareness, and lead your team to deliver high-quality, value-driven outcomes that support sustainable growth and make a meaningful difference.

Who are we looking for?

You will possess strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate a clear and concise narrative that explains what has happened and what needs to happen to achieve our vision. Your commercial and strategic insight will support the development of quarterly rolling forecasts. This is a hands-on role where you will delve into individual schemes from inception through to handover, ensuring viability and value for money, while also maintaining an overarching view of the development programme.

You will be technically proficient, with the ability to drive improvements in financial processes, enhance data quality, and improve the timeliness of reporting through automation and streamlined workflows. As a key member of the finance management team and wider senior management group, you will also oversee a small finance team.

We are passionate about our values and committed to delivering the best possible service to our residents, staff and stakeholders. Working in a dynamic environment where systems and processes are continually evolving, we are looking for someone who can be a driver of change, delivering real, measurable benefits to the association and making a meaningful difference to the lives and communities of our residents across Wales.
