Governance & Executive Support Officer - Swyddog Llywodraethu a Chymorth Gweithredol

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a Governance & Executive Support Officer to join part of a team of governance and executive support officers, who wants to make a real difference to communities across Wales. This role will be working closely with senior leaders in a position that is varied, interesting, and important to how we run things.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is genuinely interested in what we do and wants to make a positive difference. This role is all about supporting our Executive Directors, so it is important to understand the fast-paced nature of their work and take pride in offering high-quality support.

You will need to be organised, confident using technology, and comfortable working in a busy environment and juggling different tasks. Being good with numbers, detail-focused, and able to carry out research or put together reports and presentations will really help you succeed.

Strong communication skills are key. You will be working closely with our Executive Directors and Senior Leadership Team, so being able to build good relationships, make sound decisions, and help others stay on track is essential.

If you are someone who enjoys variety, likes solving problems, and wants to be part of a team that is working to improve lives across Wales, we would love to hear from you.

What you will be doing?

This dynamic and highly visible role, based in our Cardiff head office, sits at the heart of the organisation. It provides vital support to our Executive Directors through effective diary coordination, meeting organisation, and ensuring timely completion of follow-up actions. This helps our leadership team stay focused, informed, and well-prepared.

A key part of the role involves supporting governance processes, including the smooth running of Board and Committee meetings. Responsibilities include preparing agendas, collating and distributing papers, and producing accurate minutes that reflect our commitment to professionalism and quality.

Acting as a central point of contact for the Executive Team, the role requires regular liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Clear, timely, and professional communication is essential, along with the ability to build strong working relationships and maintain confidentiality.

Research and analysis will be required to support strategic decision-making. Preparing briefings, reports, and presentations with clarity and precision will contribute to the effectiveness of the Executive Team.

Collaboration with colleagues across the organisation is key to delivering corporate projects and initiatives that align with our mission and values. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, policies, and procedures is also a core part of the role.

There is also scope to contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the effectiveness of executive and governance support. Initiative and fresh thinking will help shape how we work and deliver value across the organisation.
