The Opportunity

Cambria Maintenance Services is looking to recruit a Groundwork Apprentice in South Wales. Whether you're looking to start your career after school, college or university, or you want to change your career route – apprenticeships are for everyone!

Our apprenticeship programme enables you to learn, work and earn a salary whilst working towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification that is respected and recognised in the maintenance industry.

You will work alongside our existing workforce who have lots of industry experience providing you with valuable on the job training enabling you to grow and develop the knowledge and skills required for a successful career.

 

What will you be doing?

Your time will be split between 4 days in work and 1 day in college. You will support your team to deliver a range of services.

As a Groundworks Apprentice your work tasks will include:

  • Excavation & Site Preparation
  • Drainage & Services
  • Concrete & Foundations
  • Paving & Surfacing
  • Landscaping & External Works
  • Fencing
  • Repairs & Maintenance
  • Emergency groundworks repairs

To succeed in this role, you will have a genuine passion and interest in learning your chosen trade and will contribute to working effectively as part of your new team to help us deliver an excellent service to our customers.

 

Entry Requirements

  • Must be aged 16 or over.

Also, you’ll need one or more of the following (or equivalent):

  • Welsh Baccalaureate National Diploma
  • Foundation Qualification in Construction and Building Services Engineering
  • Level 2 or 3 Diploma in a Construction Trade
  • Essential Skills Wales or Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number (Level 1 or above)
  • GCSEs (Grades A*-D) in two of the following:
    • A communication subject
    • Maths
    • A science or technical-based subject
  • WJEC Built Environment GCSE (Grade A*-D)
  • WJEC Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Designing the Built Environment (Level 2 Merit)
  • WJEC A/AS Level in Built Environment
  • Pearson BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Construction and the Built Environment (Merit)

 

Hours of work: 40 hours

How much will I get paid?

There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.

Remember once you are qualified your earning potential will increase.
