Could you be our next People Development Hero?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a People Development Co-ordinator on a 12-month secondment/fixed term contract. Our People Development team is a key part of the wider Human Resources team and this post is responsible for coordinating learning and development activities for approx. 800 staff across Wales, for the Wales & West Housing Group.

As a People Development Co-ordinator, you will work closely with the People Development Officer to deliver a range of key projects and training initiatives. You will be responsible for co-ordinating learning and development activities for the WWH Group ensuring that all staff have access to high quality learning and development opportunities. The role is varied, and during the first few months you will need to develop an understanding of the subjects being coordinated. Here are a few examples of some of the key projects you could be responsible for:

  • Cultural Training – Corporate Induction, Development Conversations, Leadership Programme and Assumptions Busting
  • Training academies – bespoke induction programmes for each group company
  • Health & Safety training – Asbestos, First Aid, Chainsaw and Woodchipper
    • Role Specific programmes – Safeguarding, Gas, 18th Edition Regulations Electrical Installation
      • Castell Care & Support – Manual Handling Passport, All Wales Safeguarding and Medication
      • Carbon Literacy programme
      • Dementia Friendly initiative

We are looking for an individual with a positive can-do approach, as no two days are the same. We often deal with changes at short notice, so the role requires someone who is resilient, has strong organisational skills and able to plan and prioritise workload in an unflustered manner.

We are seeking someone with a genuine passion and interest in learning and development to provide a valuable contribution to the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a busy L&D environment with an eye for detail and a flexible approach to work. A good understanding and proven track record in using Excel, Sharepoint (or similar document management and intranet site) and an HR system (e.g., Cascade) is essential; this will enable the effective management and co-ordination of all training. Being able to self-manage and organise a variety of tasks is also critical. We are looking for a natural auditor who can ensure training data is reliable and compliant. You will be expected to create reports and document a large amount of training data accurately.

Working arrangements offer a hybrid approach, a blend of working from home and from a local office; safe and secure office space is available as a permanent arrangement if preferred. Visiting training venues over the past 18 months has been limited, nevertheless, over time, when it is safe and as business needs dictate, this post will require a degree of travel across Wales to support/set up training or induction activities, identify suitable training venues and/or build relationships with colleagues or suppliers as necessary. As such, you will require a valid driving licence and provision of your own vehicle with suitable business insurance.

If you would like to have an informal chat about the role, please call Daniel Huskings 07866156924 or Sophie Zealley on 07971953945.
