The Opportunity
We have an exciting permanent opportunity as role of Payments Team Leader within our Finance team. This position plays a vital part in ensuring the effective delivery of our Payments service and in supporting colleagues across the organisation to maintain high standards of financial accuracy and compliance in accordance with the Group's Financial Regulations.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a part-qualified accountant who is a confident, positive and motivated individual who has strong experience of working with payment systems, financial controls and computerised accounting processes. You should be someone who communicates clearly at all levels, works collaboratively and is comfortable leading, supporting and developing a team especially through times of change. You should also have a deep understanding of information systems, know how data should flow through them and the controls necessary to ensure the robustness and accuracy of the information produced from them.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, a strong problem‑solver and able to support colleagues through change while keeping work accurate and professional. You will be highly organised, able to view processes through a customer lens and drive improvements accordingly. You will also be a strong contributor and developer of a culture where customers remain at the heart of what we do.
What will you be doing?
As Payments Team Leader, the role focuses on leading and developing the Payments Team to deliver a high‑quality, efficient and accurate service. The position oversees all payment systems across the Group, ensuring correct coding, accurate vendor records and the timely processing of all payments in line with compliance requirements. Key responsibilities include managing the weekly payment run, maintaining the integrity of the supplier database and coordinating the verification process for new suppliers.
The role also supports ongoing improvements to purchasing, credit card and expenses processes, providing training and guidance to colleagues so that systems are used confidently and consistently.
Acting as a systems lead for payment‑related platforms, the post holder works closely with the Finance Manager (Payments), the Product Owner and the wider Finance team to scope, test and deliver system changes. This work directly contributes to improving the quality and flow of financial information across the organisation, ensuring processes remain robust, efficient and aligned with operational needs.
